Established in London by Samuel Baker in 1744, Sotheby's is the world's oldest auction house. Since its very beginning, Sotheby's has been a market leader of the world's most valuable and finest possessions. Sotheby's enjoys great popularity amongst celebrities and collectors worldwide as an auction specialist dealing in over 75 collecting categories including Fine Art, Antiques, Jewelry, and Collectibles. Amongst the exclusive and utterly unique items that Sotheby's has handled in recent years are Picasso's portrait Dora Maar au Chat and James Bond's beloved Aston-Martin featured in the 007 movie series.
In 1976, Sotheby's recognized that it can serve its auction clientele in a valuable new way by offering real estate services, and founded Sotheby's International Realty® - a real estate brokerage service. It quickly became known for representing the most distinctive properties around the world, and grew to over 550 offices located in 44 countries and territories, giving clients unprecedented access to properties that span the globe.
To those who value the unique, Sotheby's International Realty® is the real estate services provider that offers unrivaled access to distinctive properties both in Japan and around the world. In 2010, Sotheby's International Realty® opened its Tokyo Office in order to make a full-scale entry into the rapidly expanding Asian market. Our experienced team of local real estate professionals, leveraging the global network and unique marketing tools, provide one-of-a-kind real estate services in Japanese, English, and Chinese.
In the same way that the Sotheby's Auction House offers exclusive arts and antiques that fascinates collectors from around the world, Japan Sotheby's International Realty offers extraordinary properties to extraordinary people. Far from simply providing brokerage services, we take great pride in using considerable experience, resources, and global connections to artfully unite the visions of our sellers and buyers through the medium of a home.
In addition to Japan, Sotheby's International Realty® operates over 550 offices across 44 countries and territories around the world including USA, Canada, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Thailand, France, England, and New Zealand. With over 10,000 agents coordinating between offices, we provide secure and efficient real estate transaction services.
